| The
province of Mendoza, Argentina, is synonymous
with Wine. It is the country’s leading
winemaking region, with a considerable thermal
amplitude and appropriate soil for growing
vitis vinifera. There are some 141,700 hectares
dedicated to vineyards and more than 900 wineries
in the region. However, this land has still
much more to say. Such is the belief of Vinos
de los Andes, which is active in raising international
awareness to promote the emergence of first-rate
products in Argentina. A new vision of quality
–based on plantations of classic varietals,
the preservation of old vines, the reapplication
of European artisan techniques, and the use
of leading-edge technology- results in the
production of world-class wines. |

Zona Alta del Rio Mendoza |

|
 |
“Zona
Alta del Rio Mendoza” is the name of
the territory that comprises the vineyards
of a large portion of Maipu and Lujan Departments.
Agri-ecological conditions are virtually perfect,
and that is why the region has been selected
by a number of wineries that produce the most
exquisite Argentine fine wines. The surface
soil consists of fine sediments of alluvial
origin, while the stony subsoil is made up
by clayey sandy-silt sediments. The soil is
very poor in organic matter, thus guaranteeing
high-quality harvests that render the noblest
wines.
The climate is temperate, sunny and arid,
with scarce rainfall, and moderately windy
and humid. This region may also be called
“the land of Malbec,” as this
variety grown here is closely linked with
the environment, rendering a quality and a
bouquet that are unmatched by any other vine-growing
region in the world. |

Originally
from southwestern France, where it is known
as “cot,” the Malbec is the red
wine variety that has best adapted to the
Argentine soil, rendering exceptional wines.
It is a wine with intense aromas, a highly
concentrated purple color and a pleasant taste.
No doubt Argentina offers the best Malbec
wines in the world. Produced as either light
and young wines with fresh fruity aromas,
or as full-bodied red wines with great storage
capacity and cooked red berries aromas, the
Malbec grapes are grown in all the viticulture
areas of Argentina, most notably in Lujan
de Cuyo and Maipu, in the province of Mendoza.
With the Malbec as their flagship product,
Argentine wineries are aiming at major growth
in the international market and have gained
a position among the best wines in the world.
At Vinos de los Andes, our true aspiration
is to live up to the expectations that this
variety has generated, and to excel ourselves,
inviting the world to try the rest of our
varieties, characterized by amazing richness. |
